Helen Minnery

Helen Minnery

Dental Hygienist

Helen left South Yorkshire to train at Liverpool Dental Hospital as a Dental Hygienist where she qualified in 1992. She has worked at Rose Lane Dental Practice since 1995, where she now works 4 days a week.

Helen gains great Job Satisfaction from providing patients with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to maintain their teeth and implants. She has a particular interest in none surgical periodontal treatment and Implant cases.

Helen graduated in 2013 with a BSc (Hons) in Dental Studies from the University of central Lancashire.

For the past 13 years she has been involved with the British Society for Dental Hygiene and Therapy, and has held the position of Secretary, Chair and Regional Representative for the North West Region. At Present Helen is the President of the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy.


Nicola Fitzpatrick

Nicola Fitzpatrick

Dental Hygienist

Nicola qualified from the Royal London Hospital in 1997 and has over 20 years’ experience working in private practice. She also has 19 years’ experience working for the Liverpool community dental service where she treated nervous patients and patients with special needs.

Since qualifying, Nicola has regularly attended update courses reinforcing her commitment to continuing professional development. Being a member of the British Society of Periodontology and the BSDHT ensures Nicola is kept up to date with the latest guidelines within the profession. She has a particular interest in treating anxious patients.

Nicola has worked at rose lane for 18 months and strives to provide the highest quality care possible within a calm and relaxed environment.

Nicola is married with 2 children and enjoys watching her son play rugby and spending quality family time together at weekends.


Kate Phillips

Kate Phillips

Dental Hygienist

Kate qualified at the Liverpool Dental Hospital as a Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist in 2014 and has since worked within NHS and private practices across Liverpool. Since working at Rose Lane, Kate has gained a lot of experience working with implant cases referred by Dr Swanson. She believes as a dental hygienist they play an important role in maintaining good oral health, particularly for patients with newly placed implants and giving them the best oral hygiene advice.

Kate also has a keen interest in charity work and has recently returned from Tanzania working alongside the dental charity Bridge2Aid. For two weeks, along with other dental professionals, Kate travelled to rural parts of East Africa to provide emergency dental treatment for those with no access to dental care. Kate plans to return again as a volunteer once she has enough money together from various fundraising.

I have been at Rose lane for over 20 years, working as a dental hygienist on a part time basis. I also work at another practice part time. I am married with 2 children, both at university! I love to travel whenever I can. I keep fit with swimming and weight lifting!


Yvonne Derbyshire

Yvonne Derbyshire

Dental Hygienist

Originally from Stockport, Greater Manchester, Yvonne trained as a dental nurse at the University of Bristol Dental Hospital and later qualified in 1991 as a dental hygienist at The University of Liverpool Dental Hospital.

On qualification, Yvonne worked in NHS dental practice, on the cardiothoracic department at Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool and as a tutor hygienist on the school of dental hygiene at Liverpool Dental Hospital. She has worked in Denplan/private dentistry, corporate dentistry for Boots Dentalcare and now works in referral specialist dentistry.

Yvonne has an interest in advanced periodontal non-surgical treatment and working with implant cases. She feels the most important part of the patients treatment with the hygienist is teaching them about caring for their mouths whilst guiding them on the best home care they can provide for themselves. Implant treatment, periodontal treatment and general dentistry can only be successful with excellent home care.

Yvonne graduated from The University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) in December 2017 with a BSc (Hons) in Dental Studies for Dental Care Professionals. She has held roles of trade liaison and chairperson within North West Region British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy, (BSDHT).
