Kate Blundell

Kate Blundell

BDS (Hons) MFDS RCS Ed PGCert MSc (Endo)

GDC No: 85600

Kate is a Dentist with a Special Interest in Endodontics (Root Canal Treatment). She has completely focussed her practice on Endodontics for the past three years now and if she is not treating patients, she is teaching Endodontics at Liverpool University Dental Hospital.

Root Canal Treatment is required when bacteria are able to get into the root canal system (Usually via decay, a very deep filling or trauma like a knock or a blow to the teeth). This process results in inflammation and infection which can often be painful. Sometimes the dental team are able to pick up abscesses that are not giving symptoms by chance when taking an X-Ray and often root canal treatment will be recommended as a preventative measure to help avoid future problems.

Because Kate is providing endodontic treatment on a daily basis she has been able to hone her skills to provide a very high standard of care for all her patients. She is very particular and always ensures that she does not rush this complex and challenging treatment.

Sometimes as well as receiving referrals from other practitioners in the North West, Dentists within the practice ask Kate to help with difficult cases that they would have previously referred out of the practice. Kate feels very lucky to be part of the team at Rose Lane Dental Practice.

Kate tries to dispel the myths about endodontic treatment as she knows that it has a bad press, the majority of the patients she sees are often pleasantly surprised. Her aim is to build trust, provide comfortable and predictable treatment that will act as a sound basis for further restorative work such as crowns and bridges.

Kate also enjoys writing music, singing and playing the guitar; she also loves animals.
